Driver dies after hitting ‘dead cow’ at Diamond Access Road

A 43-year-old driver is now dead after hitting a dead cow at the Diamond Access Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Monday.
Dead is Vishraykanand Narayan of Lot 8 Downer Street, Grove, EBD. The accident occurred at about 00:30h.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that Narayan and his wife, Geeta Sammy, were proceeding south along the eastern side of the new Diamond Access Road when he collided with a dead cow that was lying on the roadway.
He reportedly lost control of his vehicle, which toppled several times and collided with a concrete culvert.
They were both picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited citizens, placed into an ambulance, and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center, where they were both examined by a doctor on duty.
Sammy was treated for minor bodily abrasions and sent away, while Narayan was admitted as a patient suffering from a fractured shoulder and pelvis.
He was later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient in the male surgical ward. He succumbed to his injuries at about 06:55h. Investigations are ongoing.
