Guyana Amazon Warrior fans in Georgetown remain hopeful the team will finally secure the elusive Championship title but have pledged their never ending support for the team despite what happens this year.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors opened this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League with a loss to the Jamaica Tallawahs by four wickets.

The Warrior’s first point came by way of a no-result against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Sunday evening.

The Warriors are the only team to have ever made it to five CPL finals (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2019) without ever managing to lift the trophy.

A team from MTV News Update’s Sports Department spoke to Warrior fans around Georgetown on Tuesday and there were mixed views on whether they believe the team could finally secure their first Championship title but fans remained hopeful and supportive of the team.

The warriors are next up against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Thursday September 8.

Guyana has secured rights to host the CPL final for the next few years.

Tickets for the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) group games in Guyana are on sale at 233-234 Camp Street and online from www.cplt20.com.

There will be seven group games in Guyana in 2022 with four of those matches featuring the home team, the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
