Updated: May 28, 2022
A Constable attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary, has been slapped with a charge of attempt to pervert justice.
28-year-old Mario Parasram of Sophia appeared before Magistrate Rondel Weever and was not required to plea to the charge.
The charge alleged that Parasram between June 9, 2021, and July 6, 2021, in Georgetown, willfully attempted to pervert the course of justice by demanding $200,000 from one Patris Petrie to prevent the institution of a criminal charge.
After listening to the facts of the matter, Magistrate Weever granted the accused bail in the sum of $100,000, and he is expected to make another court appearance on February 22, 2022.
