A 41-year-old businessman was taken into Police custody after a quantity of ganja was found 50 feet away from his home on Friday.

The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said that between 11:00h and 13:00h, a team of policemen searched several houses in the 4 Miles Squatting area, including the home of a 41-year-old businessman.

Nothing illegal was found in the businessman’s man home, but a search in some bushes about 50 feet away from his house unearthed a number of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

“The businessman was shown the said narcotic and denied knowledge. The suspect and narcotics were escorted to Bartica Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 56 grams,” the statement said while highlighting that the man is in custody, assisting with the investigations.
