Businessman, 53, found dead with knife stuck in back
A 53-year-old man of No. 2 Village, East Canje Berbice, was this morning found lying motionless in a pool of blood on his kitchen floor with a knife stuck in his back.
Dead is Vickram Seubarran. The man’s female cousin made the discovery at about 06:00h.
Regional Commander Boodnarine Persaud told MTV News Update that the Police are working on several leads, which he is unable to disclose at this time.
He explained that ranks are on the scene, investigating whether it was a robbery/ murder. However, the Commander has since ruled out suicide, given the position of the weapon on the victim’s body.
“Because of the way the knife was found, it could not have been inflicted by the victim himself.”
Seubarran resides by himself and is said to be the proprietor of the Universal DVD Club in New Amsterdam.
The deceased’s brother, Dean Seubarran, related that he was visiting his brother this morning when he saw his cousin rushing out of the yard and screaming.
He said after calming down his cousin, he was told that his brother was in the house with an injury on his body.
“She said when he come and go around at the back, she saw the door open, so I came in and saw him laying in a pool of blood on the floor, and then some neighbors come, and they call the police,” he added. Investigations are ongoing.
