Berbice man wanted for attempted murder of ex-partner nabbed in Suriname
Sasenarine Sankar, whom the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has issued a wanted bulletin for over the attempted murder of his ex-partner, has been apprehended in neighbouring Suriname.
Waterkant, a Surinamese news outlet, reported that Sankar, who is also known as ‘Barber’ and ‘Wire,’ was arrested at a tire shop on Julianastraat in the Nickerie district.
Sankar was arrested at the request of the Guyanese Police after intensive cooperation between the Surinamese and Guyanese authorities. He is expected to be handed over to local authorities.
The Berbice man allegedly chopped the woman about her body on April 5, 2023, at Number 55 Village, Corentyne, and escaped. She had ended their relationship, which was reportedly abusive.
