Alleged robber nabbed during Police raids in Georgetown

A man who was wanted by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for an alleged robbery under arms was arrested Thursday during a raid exercise.

In a statement, the GPF said several raids were conducted at Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, Middle Road, and ‘B’ Field Sophia Squatting area.


A search was conducted at a house in Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, and a white plastic bag with 121 transparent zip lock bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis along with $1,400 was found.


“The suspected narcotics were weighed and amounted to 198 grams. As a consequence, several males were arrested, placed in custody at Brickdam Police Station Pending investigation,” the GPF said.


At a home in Middle Road, a woman accepted ownership of a bag containing seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis and one suspected cannabis plant.


She was arrested and escorted to Ruimveldt Police Station along with the suspected cannabis.


“At a home of a pensioner in Independence Boulevard, a suspect who is wanted for an alleged robbery under arms was found; he was arrested and escorted to Brickdam Police Station, pending further investigation,” the GPF concluded.
