Accusations of infidelity led to Ann’s Grove murder/suicide – Police

L-R: Dead Seon Bobb, Leon Bobb and Sharon Bobb

A 53-year-old woman is now hospitalised, and her 21-year-old son dead after being attacked by her husband on Wednesday morning after being accused of infidelity.

The injured woman has been identified as Sharon Bobb, while her dead son is 21-year-old Seon Bobb, both of Middle Walk, Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD). The incident occurred at about 02:30h.

According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Sharon and her husband had an ongoing domestic dispute in which he would accuse her of having extra-marital affairs.

The suspect reportedly physically assaulted the woman several times, and her son intervened during the dispute.

According to the Police, this morning, a noise was heard, and Sharon was seen running out of the house with blood on her clothing.

The suspect reportedly chased behind her with a cutlass in his hand, telling her to come back into the house. The woman then raised an alarm, shouting, “Leon chopped Seon.”

The woman who managed to escape was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by her daughter. She was admitted as a patient suffering from a wound to her left side neck, right hand, and burn marks about her body.

Her condition is listed as stable in the Burn Unit suffering from a first-degree burn. Police ranks who responded to the scene found the younger Bobb lying motionless on a mattress. A large wound was seen on the left side neck.

The older Bobb was subsequently found lying on a blood-soaked bed in a room, with a large wound to his abdomen with his intestine protruding.

A blood-stained knife and cutlass were found under the bed on which the suspect was on.

The 57-year-old Bobb was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died while receiving medical treatment, while his son was pronounced dead on arrival.

The bodies are presently at the Hospital’s mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME).
