After five weeks behind bars, 19-year-old Anasia McAllister, who was charged for having 37.7 pounds of ganja hidden under her bed, was today granted $250,000 bail.

For her first court appearance, McAllister, a Marketing Clerk of Tucville, Georgetown, was hauled before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the drug trafficking charge.

The charge stated that on March 26, 2022, at Perry Street, Tucville Georgetown, she had 37.7 pounds of cannabis sativa in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.

When she made another court appearance today before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs – Marcus, bail was granted. The matter was adjourned to June 8, 2022.

During the search, ranks found two brown boxes under her bed containing several rectangular brown duct tape parcels, which, when opened in her presence, had several leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis sativa.

She was told of the offence committed, arrested, and escorted to Narcotics Branch along with the suspected cannabis. The suspected narcotics were weighed in her presence and amounted to 37.70 pounds, equivalent to 17.1 kilograms.
