2022 NSC Independence Table Tennis Tournament set for Friday

The Guyana Table Tennis Association, in collaboration with the National Sports Commission are set to host an Independence Table Tennis Tournament, beginning later this week.


The 2022 NSC Independence Table Tennis Tournament is set to begin this this Friday, May 20 and conclude on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and National Gymnasium.


The tournament will feature singles events in a number of male and female age categories.

President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Godfrey Munroe is the Tournament Director while National Coach Linden Johnson is the competition manager.


All tennis players under the GTTA are invited to participate with a registration fees of $500 being charged for all players aged 19 and under. Players competing in the open category will pay $1000.


Seeding for all the events will be done based on results of placing in last national championships or domestic competitions in the first instance or according to international ranking if currently available for players that did not participate in domestic tournaments estimated or last rank of player in previous competition.


The numbers of groups will be decided by the technical director and the referee in cooperation with the organizing committee based on the number of groups in the tournament.

The draws for the event will be available by Thursday, May 19, which is the official deadline for registration.


Players are only allowed to compete in a maximum of two categories.

Winners will be rewarded with gold, silver and bronze medals for each event.


One-day accommodation and meals will be provided for participants who reside in Berbice, Linden, Bartica and Region 2.
