17-year-old among two arrested with ganja at Vergenoegen

A 17-year-old boy and a 25-year-old construction worker are in Police custody after being nabbed on Sunday with 3.4 grams of suspected cannabis.


Reports are that ranks acting on information received went to Long Dam, Vergenoegen, EBE, where the duo was standing at a corner in the company of others, acting suspiciously.


A Police rank exited the patrol vehicle and identified himself to one of the suspects as a law Enforcement Officer dressed in plain clothing and requested to carry out a search.


He agreed, and during the search, the officer found one transparent zip-lock plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis in the suspect’s left hand.


The Police was also granted permission from the second suspect to search him. During that search, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems and a brown piece of wrapped-up paper containing several leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found in his right side pants pocket.

They were told of the offence, arrested, and escorted to the Leonora Police Station. In the presence of both suspects, Police weighed the cannabis, which amounted to 3.4 grams.
