West Indies Legend Sir Curtly Ambrose meets President Ali

West Indies fast bowling great, Sir Curtly Ambrose, who is currently in Guyana to conduct a clinic for Berbice cricketers, met with President Dr Irfaan Ali earlier today.

Sir Curtly Ambrose, an Antiguan former cricketer who played 98 Test matches for the West Indies, has arrived on Guyana to conduct a three-day fast bowling clinic in Berbice.


He was greeted at the airport by Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) President Hilbert Foster shortly after arrival Wednesday evening and earlier on Thursday met with Dr Irfaan Ali where the two shared ideas and had a comprehensive discussion about the game.


Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, who is a patron of the BCB and two young cricketers, Jonathan Rampersaud and Surendar Kissoonlall, also attended the meeting.

Former national player from Demerara and level three England based Coach Nolan McKenzie also arrived on the same flight as Sir Ambrose.


He will be conducting a 2-day batting clinic for females and junior players on February 12th and 13th from 1pm to 4pm daily.


A total of 32 males have been selected for this but all female cricketers between the ages of 13 to 25 within the county have been invited to attend.


45 cricketers have been selected to attend the fast bowling clinic by Sir Curtly Ambrose. This begins 8:30 AM sharp on Friday February 11th and concludes on the 13th.
