One hundred children from the Durban Backlands Squatting Area were on Wednesday treated to a toy donation drive as part of OnAir Media Consultancy's annual Christmas activity.

The children were treated to snacks, drinks, books, and toys.

This is part of the company’s initiative to spread Christmas cheer to 500 children across the country.

“This is something that happen over the pandemic where we want children to have Christmas. We don’t want parents to have to choose between food and gifts, so we decided that we are going to have a Christmas for kids.”

Mr. Lauristan Choy said toys were distributed to children in Angoy’s Avenue Berbice, Blueberry Hill Linden, and Wrong Turn West Demerara, earlier in the month.

Mr. Choy added that the main focus is wanting to make a difference in communities where parents may not be able to provide their children with toys because of various circumstances.

“The aim is to ensure every child in Guyana and as far the company can with the resources, ensure that every child enjoys Christmas.”

Mr. Choy said this initiative was sponsored by corporate Guyana, family, and friends locally and in the diaspora as well as a few small businesses.
