Corentyne man charged with murder of wife

Avemanen Permaul, called “Terry,” who confessed to beating and choking his wife to death after he heard her speaking with another man on the phone, was on Tuesday slapped with a murder charge.
Permaul of Lot 33 Block 1 Kilcoy/Chesney, Corentyne, Berbice was hauled before Magistrate Renita Singh at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
On April 22 at Lot 33 Block 1 Kilcoy Chesney, Corentyne, the charge stated that he murdered 53-year-old Waynumattie Permaul, called “Datalin.”
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), famous cricketer Veersammy Permaul on April 28, 2022, visited the Police Station in Berbice and reported that his mom had been missing since April 22, 2022.
This trigged an investigation, and Avemanen was taken into custody, where he admitted to the crime.
Last Friday, the woman’s body was found in a shallow grave in her yard at Kilcoy Chesney, Corentyne, Berbice.
The man was remanded to prison until May 31, 2022, and the case was transferred to the Albion Magistrate’s Court.
