Four persons were injured on Thursday following an accident along the Windsor Castle, Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Those injured are Bhola Ramdiall, 54, Krishnan Persaud, 33, Tony Jupiter, 32, and Eon Singh, 29. The incident occurred at about 17:30h.

The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported that motorcar PSS 7002 was proceeding north on the western driving lane at a normal rate, and motor hire car HB 6392 was also moving in the same direction.

The hire was driven by Lindsay Smith, 63, of Lot 158 Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast.

According to the CCU, motorcar PAB 1932 came up from behind both vehicles at a fast rate and attempted to overtake the hire car.

While in the process, he collided with the side back wheel of Smith’s vehicle and then lost control, colliding with the rear of motorcar PSS 7002.

As a result of the collision, the hire car came to a stop, while motorcar PSS 7002 ended up in a drain, and motorcar PAB 1932 ended up toppling before coming to a halt in a trench.

The driver of motorcar PAB 1932, the occupants of the vehicle, and the driver of motorcar PSS 7002 were assisted by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Oscar Joseph Public Hospital, where they were seen and examined.

Singh was treated for a fractured shoulder, while Jupiter and Ramdiall were both treated for lacerations to their heads.

As for Persaud, he was treated for internal injuries. They were later escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital, where they were admitted as patients at the institution.
